Fort Campbell Tries To Stop Soldier Suicides

Brig. Gen. Stephen Townsend addressed the 101st Airborne Division with military brusqueness: Suicides at the post had spiked after soldiers started returning home from war, and this was unacceptable.  "It's bad for soldiers, it's bad for families, bad for your units, bad for this division and our Army and our country and it's got to stop now," he insisted. "Suicides on Fort Campbell have to stop now."

This story as well as the one below and others I have not posted really bother me.  I've always believed that the tea parties should also take up some kind of cause in addition to all of the other ways we are active.  We collected non-perishable food items at the April 15, 2009 tea party in Franklin and donated it to Graceworks.  I hope we can find a way to make a difference in at least one of the soldiers' lives.  We owe then so much.

Feeling Warehoused in Army Trauma Care Unit

“It is just a dark place,” said the soldier, who is waiting to be medically discharged from the Army. “Being in the W.T.U. is worse than being in Iraq.”

How many banks are failing?

Every Friday I see a headline or two mentioning banks closing.  It occured to me that this happens on a regular basis so I thought I would look into how many had failed so far.  Oh my gosh...

Pills electronically outfitted with transmitters... Can You Say Death Panel?

“Emerging technologies allow pills to be electronically outfitted with transmitters to communicate with the user’s wristwatch that shows that the pill has been consumed,” Felder continued. “Broadband connectivity of these devices would allow the electronic medical record to be updated with regard to medication compliance and efficacy.”

Patriots 'recapture spirit of America'

                                                                     Art Mijares, 60

This is an exellent story that will hopefully inspire you as it did me.

He paused for a moment with the look of an embattled warrior in his eyes and offered his thoughts on why he believes the tea-party movement is essential to the survival of the nation. "This country was based upon biblical principle and Judeo-Christian ethics," he said. "Somehow our leaders have lost their way over the years. That's why we're in so much trouble." Mijares held a large sign that read simply, "Come what may, I'm going to trust Jesus." He added gently, "I believe the tea-party movement is a movement of God. It's an answer to our prayers."

Economy Impact to Rise Sharply If Cloud Lingers..."The event is a classic example of a "Black Swan", a totally unexpected event with wide...spread impact, impossible to predict and hard to model."

The picture above is from an airport that remains closed.  Many are closed across Europe including London's Heathrow Airport.

The picture below is being described as a nightmarish face.  It is the picture of the cloud from space.

Many people including myself believe that the world economy is hanging by a thread. That we have reached a point where one single event such as a natural disaster or a terrorist attack could bring this economy, this dangerous stack of cards we've been building, crashing down. Wouldn't it be wild if this ended up being the event? No one would have ever predicted it.

Obama's Disregard for the Press Reaches New Heights At Summit...

TN Tea Party to Host "Back to Basics: God, Family, and Country"

Tennessee Tea Party is hosting an event called “Back to Basics: God, Family, and Country”. One of the events scheduled speakers David Fowler, President of Family Action Council of TN, plans to speak about the moral foundations and implications of America and the influence of Christianity on the Founding Fathers. Other scheduled speakers include Bernadette Ash, a Veteran and mom, John Isbell, President of A Line in the Sand Ministries, Whitney Dotson, a home school graduate who is earning her degree in Christian elementary education and Parental Rights.org spokesperson, and local talk radio host and author Michael Del Giorno. Del Giorno described the Tea Party movement as a renewal and reawakening and said “it cannot succeed and it will not work if we do not start with God and family.” Asked about the event, organizer Stacie Burke of Franklin said, “We have held rallies and protests and petitioned our representatives and will continue to do so. That is what our events are about at noon and then at the Capitol. It is my personal belief though, that when all is said and done our solution can be found in 2 Chronicles 7:14.” “If my people shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

The “Back to Basics” event begins at 6:00 at Nashville Municipal Auditorium (doors open at 5:00). Tennessee Tea Party is also hosting an event at noon featuring a slew of talk radio hosts including Ralph Bristol (WWTN), Steve Gill (WLAC), Mike Slater (WTJS in Jackson TN), and Phil Valentine (WWTN). Asked about his involvement, Slater said, “I am involved with the tea party because I want to make sure we embrace this passion and stand FOR something. Yes our Founders fought against the British, but more than that, they fought FOR individual rights. We need to do the same during this American Restoration.” At the close of the noon event organizers are encouraging attendees to walk to the Capitol where they will be met by Lt. Gov. Ron Ramsey, Senator Mae Beavers, and Representatives Glen Casada and Susan Lynn to discuss the options before the State of Tennessee concerning the new federal health care legislation.

No Nukes - Even In Self-Defense

In the first Gulf War we told the enemy if they used chemical weapons against our troops then we would "nuke" them.  The enemy did not use the biological weapons against our troops.  Telling our enemies that we won't "nuke" them, even if they strike us first with biological weapons, is dangerous and will likely prove deadly.  This President is frightening in many ways, and he is making it easier to argue that he won't stop until he has successfully destroyed the United Staes of America.

Obama Orders Lenders to Cut Mortgage Payments for Jobless...

I have a friend whose husband was laid off a very long time ago.  My friend is Conservative and one of the hardest working women I know. Her husband voted for Obama and thinks things are going great.  You see, he is doing what many are likely doing.  He is going along happily collecting his unemployment check, working odd jobs for cash almost equal to what he was making, and living off of his wife's hard earned paycheck.  Now his thinking is that they have double, almost triple the income coming in between the unemployment check, her paycheck, and his side jobs.  They are able to save like never before and he doesn't appear to have any desire to look for work (least not work that would cause him to lose his umemployment benefits in these uncertain times).  He has mentioned taking a family vacation to my friend or possible adding a deck on to their home since things are going so well.  This has caused tension between my friend and her husband, and at times me and my friend. Did I mention they have been without health insurance since he lost his job?  I guess it is too expensive (more expensive than a family vacation I am to presume). I am sure that there are people who are collecting unemployment and are truly miserable having to depend on the government for that check.  We can't overlook that all of these "wonderful perks" of unemployment are causing a great deal of resentment by others.  How much longer before tensions boil over?  How many more perks do the unemployed have to get before the employed have had enough?  I have a lot of friends out there now who are working, clipping coupons, cashing in that coin jar in the closet and everything else they can think of just to pay their mortgage and keep food on the table.  How much longer will those working and sacrificing be willing to hear about the easy life of the unemployed?  Will it be when they hear about he above story?  How much longer until they find out first hand what it's like?

Economists Warn Another Financial Crisis On the Way

The study says that "In 2008-09, we came remarkably close to another Great Depression. Next time we may not be so 'lucky.' The threat of the doomsday cycle remains strong and growing," they say. "What will happen when the next shock hits? We may be nearing the stage where the answer will be – just as it was in the Great Depression – a calamitous global collapse."

This is a picture of a protest in Greece, who is feeling the effects of the collapse already.  This picture was taken in December.

Bunning: Doing What's Right

Bunning is the lone Senator from Kentucky preventing more spending right now.  What I want to know is where is the support for this man?  We should rally behind the voice of reason here.  Where are the Republicans?  Of course this is not the popular thing to do, but it has to be done.  A lot of much more unpopular decisions are going to have to be made if we intend to keep our children free.
