Tennessee Tea Party is hosting an event called “Back to Basics: God, Family, and Country”. One of the events scheduled speakers David Fowler, President of Family Action Council of TN, plans to speak about the moral foundations and implications of America and the influence of Christianity on the Founding Fathers. Other scheduled speakers include Bernadette Ash, a Veteran and mom, John Isbell, President of A Line in the Sand Ministries, Whitney Dotson, a home school graduate who is earning her degree in Christian elementary education and Parental Rights.org spokesperson, and local talk radio host and author Michael Del Giorno. Del Giorno described the Tea Party movement as a renewal and reawakening and said “it cannot succeed and it will not work if we do not start with God and family.” Asked about the event, organizer Stacie Burke of Franklin said, “We have held rallies and protests and petitioned our representatives and will continue to do so. That is what our events are about at noon and then at the Capitol. It is my personal belief though, that when all is said and done our solution can be found in 2 Chronicles 7:14.” “If my people shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
The “Back to Basics” event begins at 6:00 at Nashville Municipal Auditorium (doors open at 5:00). Tennessee Tea Party is also hosting an event at noon featuring a slew of talk radio hosts including Ralph Bristol (WWTN), Steve Gill (WLAC), Mike Slater (WTJS in Jackson TN), and Phil Valentine (WWTN). Asked about his involvement, Slater said, “I am involved with the tea party because I want to make sure we embrace this passion and stand FOR something. Yes our Founders fought against the British, but more than that, they fought FOR individual rights. We need to do the same during this American Restoration.” At the close of the noon event organizers are encouraging attendees to walk to the Capitol where they will be met by Lt. Gov. Ron Ramsey, Senator Mae Beavers, and Representatives Glen Casada and Susan Lynn to discuss the options before the State of Tennessee concerning the new federal health care legislation.
