Eurozone holds emergency Greek talks
“The mishandling of the Greek crisis has triggered fears of a systemic crisis that might engulf the eurozone’s sovereign debt markets and financial sector,” said Marco Annunziata, chief economist of Italy’s UniCredit bank.
Still Government Motors
As it turns out, the Obama administration put $13.4 billion of the aid money as "working capital" in an escrow account when the company was in bankruptcy. The company is using this escrow money--government money--to pay back the government loan.

Want to Get Rich? Work for the feds...
Government workers, especially at the federal level, make salaries that are scandalously higher than those paid to private sector workers. And let's not forget private sector workers not only have to be sufficiently productive to earn their paychecks, they also must pay the taxes that support the more generous jobs in the public sector.
Obama: "I do think at a certain point you've made enough money".
PRESIDENT OBAMA: "Now, what we’re doing, I want to be clear, we’re not trying to push financial reform because we begrudge success that's fairly earned. I mean, I do think at a certain point you've made enough money."

Send in the Drones: Drones to Fly Over Texas - DRUDGE
From Drudge Report:
SEND IN THE DRONES: PREDATORS TO FLY ABOVE TEX-MEX BORDER
Tue Apr 27 2010 19:39:41 ET
Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano told a Senate hearing Tuesday that unmanned aerial drones will soon fly through Texas skies. "Big Sis" declared that over the past 15 months, federal law enforcement initiatives have made the border more secure than in any other time in history, the SAN ANTONIO EXPRESS-NEWS reports in Wednesday editions. The new "predator bees" have the capability to fly at altitudes used by commercial aircraft, and are designed to enhance intelligence capabilities of federal, state and local law enforcement. But a recent analysis of the use of unmanned aerial vehicles found that they were twice as likely to crash as manned aircraft, according to the Congressional Research Service. Developing...

Greece Cut to Junk
The government debt crisis that has shaken Europe's shared currency widened and intensified Tuesday as Portugal saw its credit rating cut -- and Greece's was reduced to junk status. Stocks slid worldwide on the news of the double blow that increased the likelihood of a continent-wide debt meltdown and more market turmoil.
.....Unsurprisingly, stocks tanked. "We have the makings of a market crisis here," said Neil Mackinnon, global macro strategist at VTB Capital.

Fort Campbell Tries To Stop Soldier Suicides
Brig. Gen. Stephen Townsend addressed the 101st Airborne Division with military brusqueness: Suicides at the post had spiked after soldiers started returning home from war, and this was unacceptable. "It's bad for soldiers, it's bad for families, bad for your units, bad for this division and our Army and our country and it's got to stop now," he insisted. "Suicides on Fort Campbell have to stop now."
This story as well as the one below and others I have not posted really bother me. I've always believed that the tea parties should also take up some kind of cause in addition to all of the other ways we are active. We collected non-perishable food items at the April 15, 2009 tea party in Franklin and donated it to Graceworks. I hope we can find a way to make a difference in at least one of the soldiers' lives. We owe then so much.
Feeling Warehoused in Army Trauma Care Unit
“It is just a dark place,” said the soldier, who is waiting to be medically discharged from the Army. “Being in the W.T.U. is worse than being in Iraq.”
How many banks are failing?
Every Friday I see a headline or two mentioning banks closing. It occured to me that this happens on a regular basis so I thought I would look into how many had failed so far. Oh my gosh...
